Presidents of the GAA: Joe McDonagh

Joe McDonagh (born 1953), Galway, was the thirty-second president of the GAA (1997-2000).

McDonagh was a hurler for Galway during the 1970s, winning one All-Ireland medal (as a non-playing substitute) in 1980, a National Hurling League medal for 1974-1975, and was a member of the 1976 All-Stars team.

After his retirement from hurling, he took on a number of roles in the administration of the GAA, before becoming president in 1997.
