Jack Boothman, Wicklow, was the thirty-first president of the GAA (1994-1997).
An active member of Blessington GAA, his local club, he also played while a student at UCD.[1]
Boothman was the first Protestant president of the GAA.
Boothman championed the abolition of Rule 21 (preventing members of the British security forces from joining the GAA)[2], but he opposed the relaxation of Rule 42 (preventing other sports from being played at GAA grounds, Croke Park in particular).[3]
