All-Stars Collection

The GAA All Stars have their origins in the Cú Chulainn awards of the 1960s, which gave an award to each playing position in both hurling and football, to create a “team of the year”.

In 1971, with sponsorship from Carroll’s Cigarettes, these awards were formalised to become the GAA All Stars Awards, and a commemorative poster was published to record each year’s hurling and football All Stars team.

Lár na Páirce contains a complete collection of the All Stars posters:

  • Carroll’s GAA All Stars (1971-1978)
  • Bank of Ireland GAA All Stars (1979-1994)
  • Powerscreen GAA All Stars (1995-1996)
  • Eircell GAA All Stars (1997-2000)
  • Vodafone GAA All Stars (2001-2010)
  • Open GAA All Stars (2011-2012)
