Liam O’Neill, Laois, is the thirty-seventh and current president of the GAA (2012-2015)
O’Neill played at club level for Slieve Bloom[1], and has served on the administration side of the GAA at club, county, provincial, and national levels. A primary school principal, O’Neill was elected on the basis of a platform focussed on the development of the games.
During his presidency, the GAA made a deal with Sky Sports, leading to Gaelic Games being available to the British viewing public, including the Queen Elizabeth[2], who in 2014 became the first British Monarch to visit Croke Park.[3]
