Presidents of the GAA: Dan O’Rourke

Dan O’Rourke (died 1968), Roscommon, was the fifteenth president of the GAA (1946-1949).

Born in Laois, he spent most of his life in Roscommon, where he played inter-county football, was a member of the county council[1], and was elected TD a number of times between 1921 and 1951, beginning with the second Dáil.

Initially a Sinn Féin TD, he switched to Fianna Fáil in 1932, but later returned to Sinn Féin in 1951 to serve in the 7th Seanad[2].
