Knights of the Whistle: Paddy Mythen

Paddy Mythen (born 1911) was a football player and referee from Co. Wexford.

As a football player, he played on the Wexford teams that won the 1932 and 1933 Leinster Championships[1].

He refereed the All-Ireland Senior Football Finals in 1943[2], 1944, and 1946[3]. The 1943 game is notable for being the first time a player was sent off in an All-Ireland football final, when Joe Stafford of Cavan was sent off with 15 minutes remaining in the replay[4].
